サティバ、インディカ、ハイブリッド
これらの用語の本来の意味と、作用をほとんど予測できない理由。
「サティバは元気が出て、インディカは眠くなる」――よく耳にする話です。しかし植物学と日常会話では、これらの用語の使われ方はまったく異なります。100以上の大麻サンプルの遺伝子解析では、「サティバ」「インディカ」というラベルはゲノム全体のレベルで遺伝的な近縁関係を反映しておらず、主に少数の香り成分（テルペン）と関連していることがわかりました（Watts ほか、Nature Plants 2021）。

Why I Look at Morphology & Terpenes Rather Than “Sativa/Indica” Labels
In the grow tent you quickly see how right the genetic studies are: the label “Indica” or “Sativa” mainly tells you whether a plant grows compact and broad-leaved (BLD) or tall and narrow-leaved (NLD) and how much it stretches in early bloom. Its aroma and character, however, come down to its specific terpene and cannabinoid profile (chemovar) and trichome ripeness at harvest.
